In
1985, Pastor John Lovegrove, a missionary with Northwest
Baptist Missions was called to be pastor of Grace
Baptist Church. The Lovegroves, having come from a
successful church planting work and having previously
started a large Christian School in Idaho, were burdened
to begin a school at Grace. In its beginning,
Grace Baptist School had Kindergarten through fourth
grade. Mrs. Lovegrove taught first through fourth
in a combined classroom setting. Mrs. Anita Ward
was the Kindergarten teacher. New grades were
added each year.
Grace
Baptist School uses the church facilites and operates
solely on the income it receives. Over the years,
God has blessed the school in providing qualified
teachers who are willing to teach for very small
salaries.
In
1999, Pastor and Mrs. Lovegrove were called of the Lord
to minister in Rigby, Idaho. The church's
assistant pastor, Gary Carlson, assumed the pastorate of
the church. Mark Worden, was asked to be the
school administrator. Mr. Worden served in that
capacity for two years. In the fall 2001, Grace
had a need of four new teachers and an administrator.
God provided for the school's needs and Tim Parish took
the job of administration. Gary Carlson resigned as
pastor in 2003 and Dr. Wally Higgins assumed the
pastorate. In the spring of 2006, Grace was in
need of a new administrator, so the school board
selected Matt Johnson, Dr. Higgins' assistant, for that
ministry. In the summer of 2007, Grace Baptist
School moved to its current building after a long and
arduous building project.
We anticipate the Lord's continued blessing and
provision as we seek to assist the parents in bringing
their children up in the nurture and admonition of the
Lord.
