Our Vision for Grace Baptist
School is a vision for families and children. We
deeply desire the exaltation of God through the
fundamental organization he created, the family.
If we neglect to pass on absolute Truth to the next
generation we will have failed in the most important
duty given to mankind. At GBS we endeavor to
"educate" the entire person, spirit, mind,
soul, and body. As a private school, we can only
accomplish these goals with the sacrificial help and
support of you the parent. In our experience,
children whose parents are involved in their education
are happier, better disciplined, and eager to
learn. What you, the parent, put into the
education of your child you will receive in return.
1.)
Spiritually—Society today is focused
on instant gratification and a desire to please
ourselves. Because
of this, those with Godly morality and character are
becoming harder to find.
Here at GBS we intend to focus on pleasing God,
which is only possible through the righteousness of
Jesus Christ. We
desire to help each student understand what it means to
have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which
will lead to right morality and right character.
To accomplish this goal, we have Bible classes
daily and chapel every other week.
We teach the Word of God (the Bible) interpreted
in its normal, historical context.
The curriculum we use has a Biblical basis as
well. 2
Timothy 3:15 “And
that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures
which is able to make thee wise unto salvation through
faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
2.)
Intellectually—Academic excellence
is a hallmark of GBS.
We believe that every child in
America
needs a solid education that will help them to think
critically as they mature.
To accomplish this goal, we believe in
disciplined classrooms controlled by the teacher.
A disciplined classroom provides an atmosphere
that is conducive for all the students to learn.
We focus heavily on the basics (arithmetic,
language, reading, writing) in the elementary grades.
We also encourage field trips, art, music, and
drama. It is
our desire to prepare all graduates of GBS for higher
education. Proverbs
8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the
things that may be desired are not to be compared to
it.”
3.)
Emotionally—To be emotionally mature
is a necessity to living a productive life.
We endeavor to engage each student
emotionally at GBS.
The development of good social skills is
important as we conduct our lives for God’s glory.
To accomplish this goal, we encourage healthy
competition, supervised recess, and cultural events (art
shows, plays, etc.) Ephesians
4:32 “And be ye kind to one another tenderhearted
forgiving one another , even as God for Christ’s sake
hath forgiven you.”
4.)
Physically—Children are increasingly
being robbed of their health in our society.
Junk food, lack of exercise, and being a “couch
potato” has created a generation that is dangerously
unhealthy. At
GBS we encourage parents and children to “turn the
television off and get some exercise.”
We require Physical Education classes for the
5-6th grade classes and Jr./Sr. High classes. Our
younger elementary grades have organized, active
recesses that both teach cooperative play and good
sportsmanship. I Corinthians 6:9 "What,
know ye not that your bodies are the temple of the Holy
Spirit?"
